Total fees

When I ordered directv the installer made it sound great that we could just use unlimited pay-per-views as long as our recievers wern't pluged into the phone line, but after you order around three per reciever it makes it so that you are unable to order anymore pay-per-views, so then if I wanted to order pay-per-views I would have to plug the phone lines in and pay around 50 dollars in total for all of the recievers pay-per-views, so I never used them again lol.

That installer is an idiot.

so far i'm just in my 6th week with dish, and i have not seen that charge, and if when i do i'm hoping that dish will waive the 5.00/fee because of misinformation
that was given to me to signup, if not then there are not the kind of company i want to bussiness with.

the technology has changed, dish just wants the extra 5.00/mo instead of using
upstream and downstream to send and collect ppv info. but on the other hand
maybe dish hasn't developed that far yet, still no excuse for lieing to get customers.

that is completely wrong... the technology has not changed, directv is not a 2-way satellite connection... period.
I have been installing both 1-way and 2-way systems for quite a while now, and I guarantee that they are not tranmitting off any D* dish.
If your sister is ordering ppv, the receiver has just not hit its limit yet, and will cut her off and ask for a phone line whenever it does.... i'm willing to bet that she is ordering ppv, but she has not been charged for them yet.

you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about Dish, and now assume everyone from that company is lying to you. Had you went with Direct instead you would be charged $5 for each additional receiver... but i guess a $5 additional receiver fee is better than a $5 "additional outlet fee" that E* charges.....
And E* equipment does work with many VOIP services.. I have mine plugged into Vonage, and have previously used Sunrocket, both worked flawlessly.

I don't want to sound rude or mean, but I don't like when people come on these boards throwing out wrong information. That just confuses people that come here looking for answers before deciding what service to go with.

no chip on my shoulder except for the 3 sales people or c.s. reps what ever you want to call them, that said it would work period, now maybe it just don't work with packet 8, i told all three i had cable internet and voip, they didn't ask which
voip just said it would work. and i have 1 reciever , 1 t.v. as far as your's working
flawlessly that's great, is your voip though a cable modem or dsl ? i am more then
will to work with dish in trying to get this thing working, what i'm not will to do is
pay for someone else's misinformation , so if someone on here has dishnetwork
with packet 8, and cable internet wants to help me figure this thing out then i hope they will jump in on this.

What you should do is contact Packet 8 and see what they say. Chances are you aren't the first person to have a problem with getting your Dish receiver to work with their service. They may have a few tweaks to get it up and running.

If that doesn't work, just call Dish and talk to a tech person and see what they can do.

If neither can do anything for you, ask for an accounts specialist and see what they can do with the fee. If they refuse to eat the $5/mth fee, tell them you want to cancel w/o paying a penalty. Then switch to dish.

Dish CSRs dont know if every receiver works with every VOIP service. Just like they don't know if you have a clear view of the sky. They only can rely on what they've experienced in the past.

I'd put my money on it does work with Packet8 because if you do a google search for "Packet8 Dish Network" you'll see people have had success.
