NEW YORK – May 15, 2006 – As the demand for HD Digital Radio™ receivers continues to grow, local tri-state area retailers Harvey and Electronics Expo plan to offer HD Digital Radios in their stores and will launch aggressive marketing campaigns online and in print beginning today. They represent a second wave of major retailers joining the HD Digital Radio revolution, according to the HD Digital Radio Alliance.
Both retailers will roll out programs similar to those launched by ABC Warehouse, Tweeter and Crutchfield.com last month, including custom made commercials running on 11 Alliance member radio stations, Spanish-language versions of marketing and advertising, in-store and online instruction to assist customers, extensive staff training and in-store and point-of-purchase marketing.

“This is another huge step in the rapid progress that HD Digital Radio has made over the last few months,” said Peter Ferrara, president and C.E.O. of the HD Digital Radio Alliance. “We are making strides on the regional and national levels as awareness of HD Digital Radio becomes mainstream and retailers move to meet the surge in consumer demand.”

Harvey’s HD Digital Radio campaign will include local advertising in consumer publications including the weekly New York Magazine and local AM radio. The company will also be marketing through its online services.
“As a company that prides itself on delivering world class products to its customers, we felt it was only natural to begin offering HD Digital Radio in our stores, said Roland Hiemer, vice president of merchandising for Harvey. This is an up and coming technology and we are excited to be leading the way on HD Digital Radio in the New York area.”

Electronics Expo will use print and online advertising and direct mailing as part of its HD Digital Radio marketing campaign. The retailer will also be spotlighting HD Digital Radio during store Grand Openings and will conduct special HD Digital Radio contests through their radio spots. Electronics Expo has five locations in New Jersey: Paramus, Wayne, Woodbridge, Raritan and Succasunna.

“We are using many marketing methods to get HD Radios into the hands of customers because they know that we are a company that is always one step ahead of new technologies,” said Leon Temiz, president and C.E.O. of Electronics Expo. “HD Digital Radio is in high demand and we are making sure that we are continuing to meet the needs of our customers.”
The campaigns put forth by Harvey and Electronics Expo are part of the HD Digital Radio Alliance’s $200 million, on-air advertising campaign which was announced in December of last year. The Alliance recently announced its second wave of HD2 multicast channels in 22 markets, bringing its total number of markets to 50.
