We live on the 8th floor of an 11-story condo complex in Marina Del Rey, CA. We face southeast. I would like to connect an antenna to our Mitsubishi DLP TV for use at times when our DirecTV is down and out. We could place one behind the tv or easily run coax to our large porch and place one there. Obviously, we can't use a big rooftop type, but we could mount something on our railing. LA's transmission towers are just out of line of sight to the northeast.

I moved your thread tot he over the air area

can you post your tvfool report?
TV Fool

this will give us some info as to how far you are away from the towers and how strong they are. Dont worry if you put in your address. All it will show for us will say "exact" and the city

Marina Del Ray is about 27 miles from the Mt. Wilson transmitters, but line of sight, so I would pick up an amplified indoor antenna from Radio Shack or Wally World (RCA or similar) and try it out. If it does not work, take it back.

Digital TV reception is more of an art than a science, so best results are achieved by experimentation.
