Tweak 1000.2

After finally getting a working 722 installed on Friday with a 1000.2 dish, the installer commented after doing the check switch that getting over a 60 reading on the signal meters was a thing of the past.
110=50's, 119=50's, 129=low 20's
On Saturday I marked all settings on the dish with a Sharpie, so I could return to those setting if I couldn't get a better SS. Fortunately the dish is outside my office window where I have a tv I could crank the volume up on and open the window. Just by moving the elevation, skew, and azimuth a fraction, 1/16"-1/8" I was able to get the readings to 110=70, 119=82, 129=52 on their home transponders.

Gadzooks man!! You were able to get the 119 above an 80? That's great!!

At least here in NE Ohio, my typical readings are...

110 - 60
119 - 70
129 - 50

(plus or minus a few points)

I believe the main thing I corrected was the mast. The installer mounted it to a 6x6 post on my deck and assumed it was plumb. I checked and it was not, plumbed it, then tweaked the other settings! It still amazes me that just a 1/32" can make so much difference!

Isn't that the truth! It surprises me every time I set up my tailgating dish how small of a movement can change things so much.

Well when you figure how far away that satellite is from the dish. 1/32" turns into a long way off.
