Both E* and V* promised to bring us the rest of VOOM so how can they keep their promise if nobody can watch them? The only plan that makes good business sense is for E* to roll-out MPEG-4 HD LIL a few cities at a time - just like D*. Get HD LIL in the top 30-40 markets during 2006/early 2007 and then worry about the rest.

That plan would certainly make sense as far as effecting a slow/gradual/controlled transition to MPEG4 as well.

Although it is something to think about, the service type was 0xA6 back when they first launched the 11 voom mirrors and espn2hd (as shown by Psmiths log). I believe why they are not the same st as the rest of the HD channels might have more to do with they are in "engineering" mode and not that they will be mpeg4. The mpeg4 tests on 148 have a st of 0xA4.

Im gonna wait and see how things turn out on monday with CBS HD east.. I think I might email a few comments and suggestions to some contacts and let them know whats going on tommorow morning when i get up.. I think the best thing were playing right now is a wait and see deal.
