USB on D12-700 receiver

Can anyone tell me what the usb port on my D12-700 receiver is for? I haven't tried connecting anything to it for fear of messing something up. Tnx, El_Viejo

It can supply power for any usb device, like charging a phone. In the H/HR series boxes, the AM21 ota tuner connects to it.
