Hello all. I have a Directv D11 reciever, and noticed today that it has a USB port on the back of it.

Can I use this usb port to use a flash drive and play movies or audio or pictures from the flash drive on my tv?

I would love to be able to play movies from the flash drive onto the TV by using this USB port on the back of the reciever.

If you can not do this, what is this usb port used for?

Thanks for the answers.

The usb port is there in case directv decides to do some of those things you're describing. Currently, it is useless. It does nothing except provide power (5v) over the usb bus. It can also be used for serial control of the receiver, but not for data transfer in any way.
