I have a loft that has a directv genie mini. There is a garage directly beneath. I have added a tv in the garage. I am also adding some wireless HDMI extenders so that I can watch DirecTV in the garage. I have 2 remotes for the genie. One is programmed to the TV and Mini in the loft, the other in the garage is programmed for the Mini.

My question; I'm asking only because I haven't tried it yet, I already have the remotes programmed to the Genie, but can they ALSO be programmed to operate their respective TVs?

Now, before you reply with, "Just get another mini and put in the garage," I must tell you, I am a cheapskate and the HDMI extenders have worked very well for me. Furthermore, I hate paying for receivers that are used very infrequently.

Thanks in advance for constructive responses.

Just tried it and "viola!" I wasn't sure if maybe programming the remote to TV was for the box. It is actually for the remote. NICE!

So, I hooked up the HDMI Wireless extenders, both DirecTV remotes are set to RF. Programmed the downstairs remote to the downstairs TV and now I can turn on the downstairs TV and (upstairs) Directv box, change channels on DirecTV from downstairs. Since both upstairs and downstairs DirecTVs are watched pretty infrequently, this was a "Cheapskate" Win!!

I am a happy guy!
