My mother is visiting from Seattle for a month and both she & I have DirecTV.

She brought one of her boxes to my home in Southern California, but when I connected it, I wasn't able to view any of the local channels that she pays for.

Other channels (e.g., HBO, CNN, even national feeds of CBS, FOX) work, but not the local.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to get it to work?

Thanks,
hwksfn

Locals are on spot beams, meaning they are fed to a certain area. Unless you live relatively close to each other this is something that wont work for locals. all her other channels will work. Differences in programming will be viewable .
