I have a VIP 722 and a VIP 622 dish network receivers. I own both of them and I will probably have to cancel my dish service within the next couple of months. I was wondering if someone could tell me if these receivers could be used as an OTA dvr once dish service has been canceled?

I think that they could but you'd have to manually program all of your DVR events. The 622 and 722 both get their guide data from Dish and not from the PSIP stream sent over the air.

No. I tried to do that with my old 411 when I got a leased VIP222 from Dish. The 411 gave me an error message that I needed to activate the receiver to receive the (local) channels.
