Volume control for Surround Sound

On the white DTV remote, I've programed the AV1 mode to control my surround sound but switching back and forth is a tad annoying. Is there a way to program the remote to where the volume buttons ONLY control the SS receiver and NEVER the TV? I never use the TV's sound anyways.

Swap to AV1
Hold select and mute until light blinks twice
Put in 993, let it blink again then push select
Slide back to left

Jimbo- The only thing that goes away is the tv volume control. The on/off will still work like it normally does. If the op wanted to go back to tv volume then he would follow the same steps as above except he would slide the switch to tv instead of AV1.
