I called VOOM about a billing question. and the asked about the DVR.
The CSR gave me what sounded like a scripted response.
What jumped out at me is the line were he said the VOOM DVR will
record both HD & SD channels delivered via the satellite.
So my next question was will it record OTA channels? His answer was
it says channels via the satellite. Now I dont know what to think.
Wilt, will it record OTA channels ?

Did you happen to ask the question that is probably of most interest to everyone (i.e.
"When???"). I would be happy to hear even a CSR's guess right now.

I will wait and hope for the best from VOOM. Meanwhile the service is great and I have an RCA DRC10 recorder (hard drive). It interfaces via Firewire IEEE 1394 so even a receiver with this interface would be helpful. Evidently theDish 811 HD receiver has a firewire interface. Too bad Dish is almost useless for HD at this point with it's very limited selection. Only HDNet is available on Dish and not VOOM but the other channels in HD more than make up for this.
The DVR would be great but it's not critical for me and how much is it going to cost?

I did. A month or two back I quit VOOM because the DVR looked not
to be coming soon. At the time they said before the end of the
year. Now it's sometime in 2005. I've been staying a member here to
see if anything changed, but as it stands right now I'll be getting
a HD TiVO and switching to DirecTV come January.

I like VOOM and hope they succeed, but I cannot wait. :-(
