[VOOM] Interesting comments in DVR manual

I downloaded and was reading the manual for Time Warner Cable's DVR and
here's an excerpt that I find awfully interesting ;

"Protect your recordings"
"To extend the life of your DVR and to save money on your electric bill,
turn Off the DVR each night before going to bed."

Why would they actually highlight this in print? Are they saying the box
uses more electricity than a normal set top box? Does leaving it on 24x7
really shorten it's life?

What do you think is up with them highlighting the above statement?

It probably does extend the life of the hard drive in the set top box. And, yes, a DVR set top box DOES use more electricity than a standard set top box. But how much? Well, I'm certain you wouldn't notice the difference in your power bill - it less than leaving on a light bulb.
