I was looking at the settings on my Voom receiver and I noticed that
the last time it had attempted to call in to Voom, it had failed. I
verified that it was connected to a phone line and I went to the menu
option to have it make a call. That failed again. I then picked up
my phone and dialed the number (800)348-4922. The number is
disconnected/out of service. So, since my box is dialing, but no one
is answering, will I get my long awaited software update that I am
told will fix the stutter problem?

[VOOM] Re: Phone connection

What software version is your box running right now? s/b 580 or 600
If not that's why the phone # is still there, on NEP 580 it's not,
haven't had experience w/ 600 yet.

If it causes interferance with your phone service call for an Service
Call please, while rare it has happened.

We had a D*tv a couple of years ago. And at that time the Security
Sweeps would knock us out every couple of months because my spouse
refused to leave the unit pulled into the phone. If someone hasn't
had interuption of service with the other two, they are lucky.

Updates are coming through the Satellite at this time. Please leave
the box in Standby mode when not in use, SAT on remote, for those who
weren't aware. This allows the box to receive the updates.

If you have VOOM and somehow got by w/out a Landline phone, there
could be difficulties in the future.

My last successful report was 7:00pm 01-05-1980...........and here I thought I had a new STB lol

rkr0923, mine has the same thing. I think the STBs came though a time warp or something as the STBs, software, VOOM service, and telephone numbers didn't exist 24 years ago. Mabye that's why the call outs fail, the STBs are trying to call out to an event 24 years in the past.

[VOOM] Re: Phone connection

568? Call in and see if this is an error on the part of the box. If
the CSA who answers doesn't know it will go up, and someone will be
able to answer for you. At the moment I don't recall hearing anyone
with a similar situation, so I don't know.
