Wow! Just switched from a Component connection to DVI from the VOOM STB to
my Sony 50" LCD HDTV and the picture is definitely superior.
This has to be the way to go with a fixed-pixel display!

How do I word the poll question? How's this?

Which method of hookup do you use?
A. DVI and the picture is much better than component
B. DVI and the picture is the same as component
C. Component and could the picture be any better? No!
C. Component and I wish the picture were better
D. I don't have an HDTV yet :-(

I think it is important to find out what type of display the user is
watching too as I feel that those with CRT monitors will have a
different distribution than those with LCD or DLP based solutions.

Not sure how you can matrix all that info together. I've been trying
to figure out how to have a multiple question survey for another Yahoo
Group I run.

[VOOM] Re: DVI Connection Problem

I use a Monster DVI to HDMI cable and it works fine with my Sony
KD-34XBR960.

The problem lies with either the cable, your tv set, or the Motorola
box. You should check your HDMI input with another device (if
available) to eliminate the possibility that your tv or cable is
faulty.

I once had a set-top box from Cablevision's IO digital cable service
that would not accept a DVI input and would give me a similar error
message. It turned out that the box was faulty. A new box solved the
problem.

I too used my dvi connection on my Sammy DLP to connect to my Denon DVD player; picture is almost as good as the best HD transmission; using Monster M3 on all my stuff, the component connection from my VOOM box to the tv shows no real difference than it did when I was using DVI & VOOM...

BTW, the Denon DVD player has superior video AND audio than the Sammy DVD/DVI player it replaced, and its only a few $$$ more than the Sammy..Money well spent, and it plays almost every kind of disc you stuff into it...
