Voom STB front display

Does anyone know what the front LCD display is for? It looks like what the cable box moto's use for their clock.

It can be used for different purposes: clock, channel number, etc. But VOOM decided to turn it off, perhaps because it is too bright.

Yeah, I've seen a picture of it...way too bright.
