While trying to get the caller ID function to work,...I discovered the installer
hadn't plug the phone line from the STB to the wall jack....Hmmmm....so I
did the honors and LOCKUPS galore, before this no lockups....I hard booted 3 times in five minutes. So I changed the flat phone line to the round high speed type you get in a DSL package connected it to the STB and the other end to a DSL microfilter to the wall jack and VOILA, no more lockups, and caller ID works. Solution: Connect a round high speed DSL phone cable to
the STB and connect a DSL microfilter to the other end of the cable, then
connect the microfilter to the wall jack....Happy Vooming

Were you connected without microfilter when you were getting those lockups?

I was only connected with the flat type phone cord on the STB end.....never
knew the other end wasn't connected until I decided to investigate while
the STB caller id function wasn't working....when I plug the other end to
the phone wall jack box.....Lockups Galore.... Using the round high speed phone cable with the microfilter I had ZERO Lockups PERIOD.....

P.S. And that includes FAST channel changes & the caller ID function works.

If anything, adding the filter is what helped you. While the round "dsl" phone cable looks cool, it is absolutely unnecessary. Remember, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and I am sure the phone cable that feeds your house isn't made of round "dsl" phone cable. Requirements for plain old telelphone wiring are very low-it doesn't even need to be twisted.

Its good to hear you got it worked out!
