New here. Glad I found out about local channels requiring a
antenna. We are about 50 miles from the Seattle area and stations.
You do not see any antennas here at all. Cable only or Dish like I
have. I have a 54 inch tv HD TV that I did use when I had cable.
Cable only had a couple stations and I guess Dish is not much
better. I guess Voom was to good to be true. I could keep Dish basic
only for locals. I will look into the cost to see if I can handle
it. I will keep in touch , maybe something will come up. I
understand by next spring Voom will have a lot more HD.

[VOOM] You know, the customer service does drive me nuts...

I've been a charter member since November of 2003. I've stuck with them
through thick and thin so far.

I have one receiver, and still have cable. With the addition of Sci-fi,
HGTV and USA, I don't have any other channels I need, but I still needed
something to push me to get rid of cable. That happened this weekend, when
I replaced my bedroom tv with a plasma.

So now I want three more receivers to finish out the house, and there's the
holiday special, 3 receivers for a buck installed. I figured that would be
only for new customers, but the first customer service rep I talked to said
no, I could do it too. Great! I wanted to double check with my wife before
committing, but called back this evening with the go ahead. Now the rep
tells me no, it's only for new customers.

I certainly hope that Voom doesn't think they can charge me $50 a tv to get
a box plugged in. If that's the case, I'll drop voom, nice as it is, and go
back to cable. At the end of the day, if you aren't willing to provide any
sort of whole house answer at a reasonable cost to your long standing
customers, you'll lose them. And you'll lose the good word - and add bad -
when you really don't want it.
