Check out www.k1rqg.com. I believe Joe said this was a 32 ft dish used to bounce SSB and CW signals off the moon!! He has talk to numerous countries around the world with it.

I'm told it's so heavy and big that it has to be moved hydraulically. I asked him about using it for Cband or KU and he stated that it's too touchy for geosync. Satellites.

If that dish moves like 1/8" you'll lose the signal and you'd constantly be tweaking it.



That would be a great addition to my dish farm. :)

Yeah. You'd need a very stable precision dish mover for something like that since the beamwidth is much tighter.

In the state of Maine, I believe it was put up in 2001 I believe. I believe he uses it on 1296mhz and 2.4 ghz using a 2 meter rig for the IF and tranverters.


Can I ask - - - where is this dish and how long has it been up?
