Go figure? It's pouring in Phoenix right now and my E* is searching for a signal. Meanwhile, my FTA G19 sat is delivering a picture as clear as a bell. Go figure?

That was a nasty storm yesterday in Phoenix. Just be glad temporary loss of signal was all you lost.

Yep, rain fade rarely happens here in the Valley of the Sun.

Qwest had a similar service to FiOS here in Phoenix but they dropped the TV service and now just use it for broadband Internet. The gateway box had Ethernet jack for Internet service and three tuners so you could watch up to three different channels on three different TVs at the same time. But they didn't advance the technology to include DVR service and people started dropping them for Cable and Satellite (I was one of them).
Qwest now uses D* as the TV service in their bundle.

I am getting tired of the rain fade myself. Can't wait until FiOS is available here.

Have you peaked your dish?

Statistically, rain fade should only happen 3-4 times per year (I feel this number is high) if your system is operating optimally.
