what are the top markets for satellite tv providers.

You have to remember that in some large metro areas people do not have access to satellite due to apartments, line of sight, etc.

I remember someone saying North Louisiana was one of the highes satellite viewership areas. Not sure if that was by numbers alone or if it was by penetration in that market.

It may have been per capita, in which low-population, remote areas would reign supreme.

Taking the ADS% (Alternative Delivery Systems) into account with the market ranking, it appears that Los Angeles is the clear #1 for satellite delivery in total volume, since it ranks at 36% ADS while the #1 market, NYC, is at a lowly 12.9%.

If I had the time, I'd do the math. Keep in mind that ADS includes not just satellite, but IP delivery as well, but I'm sure the vast majority of the ADS number is from satellite.

Ok, I lied, I had time to do a little bit of excel magic. Top 30 markets (picked 30 because they all are over 1 million in size):

Unfortunately you'd have to do all of them see the correct population order. For instance, Shreveport comes above Baltimore due to their 60% ADS number.

True, but in the interests of brevity, I didn't want to include the entire list. I probably should have just posted the top 10 after starting with the 30 DMA sample.
