I'm almost positive it is a null modem, but the coolsatusa.com/support site specifically says that the 4000 PRO uses a straight cable. This 4KPRO was redeemed from a guy not really on the up and up. I'm trying to get the 8-03-2005 factory firmware on it and put the factory sat list on it.

*The 4000 Plus uses a Null Data Cable

*The 4000 PRO uses a Straight Data Cable

the 4000 pro does use a straight shot cable

I think my 5000 does too (with 9 receivers I forget which one uses what)
