I am not in a contract with DirecTv, so I can threaten them to leave if I want.
However, I don't want to leave. DirecTv Programming is best for me. I "moved" too, so I really don't want to leave.

However, I am paying them $170/month.
I have:
Premier package
Protection plan
Baby First
HD Extra Pack
HD Acesss
DVR Service
6 Receivers (2 DVR-HDs and 4 HDs)

What can I get from them in order to stay, since I already have just about everything they offer. Can I get a price reduction?

Any suggestions on what to say or what to ask for that could help me get more bang for my $.

You could threaten to cancel, but don't be surprised if they do it right then and there.

What i would do is review your current subscription and equipment and try to reduce it. For example, do you really need all 6 receivers? Do you need the Premier package? I removed the HD extra pack when I realized I didn't watch those channels that often.

I say just call them, say that you're reviewing your expenses and would like to know if they can do anything tho reduce your monthly bill. Doesn't hurt to just call and see what they can do for you.

One thing you can do is use more descriptive thread titles. :)
Sorry.
Just kidding.
My bad.

But seriously....
BABY FIRST channel ?
Really ?
Is it really worth $ 4.99/month for one channel ?
Will anyone in the house even notice if that channel goes away ?

Like someone else said - cut back on the receivers.
Is there a time when all 6 are ever being used at once ?
Maybe cut back on a few receivers and move a receiver from room to room when necessary.

You might want to ask that same question to the folks that pay $12.99/month for one channel of Playboy.;)

Thanks guys for the feedback. I am not really looking to save any money on this. It's more like I just feel I am getting screwed. I keep seeing advertisements for DirecTv for 50% off, this off, that off, limited time, etc. I feel I could just got for for my money, or pay a little less for what I have.
The baby first channel is perfect. It keeps my son busy when I am trying to squeeze out a few extra minutes of sleep, or trying to eat dinner uninterrupted.

Maybe I could get another HD-DVR swapped for an HD only receiver for no charge? Something? As I am typing this, I see DTV's banner on the right side for 50% off with free showtime.
How about free Playboy for those of us that are paying the most??

Again, all you can do is call and ask about a receiver swap, never hurts to ask,.

BTW, do you know about Multi Room Viewing. If your HD DVR's are networked you can view recording on one DVR on the other DVR. And hopefully with the next national software relase for the HD receivers you'll also be able to use MRV on those also. But just so you know, once it exits the beta test phase it's in now there's a very good chance that DirecTV would charge $3 or $4 per month charge to have the feature enabled.

That's the way it's always been, the new customers get deals to get them to sign up for service. It's not just DirecTV, Dish, cable companies and the telco's do the same things. One bad thing about having Premier package is that when they do have deals for existing customers, like Starz and Showtime for 1/2 price for 3 months, since you have thoses servers already, so why offer Premier customers any deals?

Try and see if they will give you a new customer deal. Also see if you can get referral friend and maybe a triple A discount I think it is a total with both $340 I am not sure about that
Like Rad said call and talk polite and see what they will offer
Good luck hope you stay with Directv

True what not give premier deals I have premier along with Center Ice MLb extra innings and HD Sunday ticket give me a break please

I can understand the sentiment, but every time I see this come up I think of my car.

The dealer where I bought my last car at a couple months ago, is offering better deals now on the same exact car.

Did I get screwed?

Thanks for those tips. I have MLB IE too, I forgot to mention that since it hasn't billed me since last Baseball season, but I guess I will see the bill for that soon too.

That's just for the first three months then it jumps to $15. They have some awfully funny bits on that channel besides the true porn at night.

I've had Premier for three years and they've offered me nothing other than price breaks on HD DVRs.

The programming freebies go to people with smaller packages--free Showtime for a few months or whatever. They do that to try to induce you to subscribe.

If you moved to a smaller package and asked for a break, you'd probably end up getting some of the movie channels free for a while. But maybe not, who knows.
