Really nothing to do with FTA - - - but here goes.

Went for a walk today with my dog and found this along the road. It has 8 small holes around the center of the shaft. Also has a hole in each end but you cannot see through it. Appears to me made of copper and for its size has a bit of weight to it.

I can make out a capital "R" and Made in USA; but I don't think it is a bullet.

What do you think it is???

Might be a reversible "tip" for a spot welding machine?

The one end looks to have been burnt by arcing, and
the holes could be for coolant circulation.
So far, best answer yet. I know for sure it is not another part that fell off my van. Haven't been in VA in a long time.....:D

I believe that is just what it is, a tip for a spot welding machine, I have seen some similiar to the one shown.

At least that first crack pipe was made in USA! LOL
I was going to say part of a jet engine , but somebody would've heard of that by now.

That's a splice for an overhead power line. Shove a wire in each end and good to go.
Some other companies were just starting to use them when I got out of that line of work. But the ones that we used were aluminum or an aluminum alloy. All the ones we had had to be crimped.
