Hello,
I tailgate every year at college football games and the last 3 years i have used the Directv 3 triple LNB 18 inch dish with a regular receiver from my home. I would like to upgrade and be able to get HD service. In the past i was always told you had to use the 22x32 big slimline dish in able to get HD service. That dish is too big to carry/pack in cart and carry a long way. I read somewhere online there were other smaller 18x20 inch dishes that can get HD as well? Is this true and if so any names or product #'s would be great.
My second question is how much more difficult is it to get the signal with the HD dish versus the regular dish?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to SatelliteGuys!, The SL3 or SL5 LNB's will work with the Phase III dish for tailgating.

It will work, but you have to do some work to it. It's not as simple as attaching the lnb. There is a thread at dbstalk documenting how to go about it.

Also, don't expect the same signal levels that you can get with the Slimline. The Phase III dish simply doesn't gather as much signal.
