Where are the other 30 million people?

I see it as this thread is about false or misleading ads.

But the ad is not misleading. If you see what the OP wrote the ad says
In it, the announcer said "50 million people couldn't be happier."

Um...Directv has around 20 million subs, where are the other 30 million?

It doesnt say 50 million subs. It says 50 million people. Average home has 2 1/2 people so 20 million times 2.5 is 50 million people

oh and your precious Dish isnt immune to this "false advertising" either. In fact on their website and their "facts" they have these 2 nuggets
dish site said:
Features & Equipment » DIRECTV's Whole-Home DVR requires an HD receiver on each connected TV. DIRECTV will charge you $99 for each of these receivers.
you get the 1st one free so if all you want is one DVR and one HD receiver there is no charge

HD » DIRECTV says they offer free HD for life, but that only applies to their higher-level packages, which can cost up to $114.99/mo.
Dish shouldnt even go near this one. First off you can get free HD on the Choice Xtra plan (2nd package) and all you need is auto pay. Current subs got 2 years of free HD with just auto pay. Dish you need auto pay and paperless billing or pay $99 one time fee. $99 for "free" HD?

Bottom line is every company out there had ads that some may take as misleading. But in the original post the ad is not misleading. It doesnt say 50 million SUBS it says 50 million PEOPLE (and by the way, Dish did the same thing too) ;)
