Ok hams I know all you guys are cable experts-which cable do you use/prefer for a long run to a scanner? I'm only doing VHF-hi , and my tower is 100' from the house, due to oversized trees that I can't take down. So total run is about 150'. Without going off the deep end money-wise, is RG6 I'm using now, with a pre-amp good enough? I've been reading all about those other cables like the 80cents a foot stuff, but it doesn't seem practical unless it was being used for transmitting.....

If it's working great as is don't fix it. :) All depends what impedence your scanner requires some scanners are 75 ohm. RG6 is 75 ohm cable. If you find out it requires 50 ohm cable a good quality low loss coax is like a LMR400 very low loss and works like a champ.
