I think it's really stupid how difficult it is to install hardware or even programs on a Linux machine.
It usually isn't that hard. What version of Ubuntu are you running?

The Ubuntu software manager is very comprehensive.

You can find out what devices are connected to the computer using lsusb.

I've never tried a USB Wi-fi adapter on a desktop. Realtek Ethernet cards are all supported out of the box.

I'm running Ubuntu Mate 20.0 on Kernel 5.8. I've run lsusb and it shows the Realtek. I'm presently connected on ethernet, but need the wireless for final location. Thanks.
