Why Ku-band exist?

I read often, about the C-band advantages for uplinkers (incluging low cost), how we know, we are not the purpose of that signals...nor the all ordinary people.
Tx, Rx, feeds, all they can do with the cheaper C-band..

Then why is necessary the ku band?

Worried about Ku? then what about Ka?. I think Ku is less expensive not only from an equipment standpoint but also TP lease costs. I guess the world ran out of bandwith and therefore the need for more frecuencies. Comm Sats are not only used for TV and Radio but also for data, internet, telephony and other comm related services. Keep in mind Lyngsat only lists few of those services. In general Sat operators keep them busy so If you look with a SA you will see lots of signals.

Yes...the small size dishes...(pizza plates) for business purposes, obviously... but...

What about the 33" or higher for FTA?

why Ku?

Once Ku band equipment became cost effective, the smaller, cheaper dishes on smaller trucks, gave news gatherers and remote reporters a cheaper vehicle.
I've seen C-band uplink trucks, and they're BIG!
The cost of a remote Ku-truck has got to be a fraction the price!

Around the Los Angeles basin, all the TV stations are on one mountain top: Mt. Wilson.
Network and local-channel up-link trucks really only need to be able to do a direct microwave to the mountain top from pretty much anywhere in the local news area.
When they're out of town on assignment in San Diego, Riverside, San Francisco, et al, they take a Ku-capable truck and up-link on satellite.
I'm not sure if the trucks carry both equipment, but direct-linking doesn't cost 'em air time.

I talked with one of our Grand Rapids ( WOOD-TV) drivers on a shoot. They were close enough to do a microwave link, but if necessary they used Ku to bounce off AMC5 . I wish I had the truck, but as Anole says, it was a lot smaller than a C-band truck would have been.
