The title says it all. I plan on using this with my tripod setup on a 1000.2 dish. I also plan on using this with my Hopper 3. I know I cannot use them at the same time.

I have 6 Wallys that we’re connected to a pair of DP34s. They were single tuners at the time of install. Now they show up as dual tuners and I can’t get all 6 to work. Any ideas on how to resolve? I called Dish and they didn’t know how to downgrade the software

Replace those DP34's with DPP44's. The DPP switch technology should allow you to use those Wally as dual-tuner receivers without causing any problems.

do you know of any way to force the wallys back to single tuner mode
The only way that I can think of would be to replace them with really old Wally receivers, still in the original box, that came pre-loaded with U420 or earlier software. Even then, as soon as they download the new software, they would immediately be upgraded to dual-tuner status again.

Here is the official answer from Dish MDU Team where Un-stacking is more common.

“Sorry for the delayed response. By default the Wally is a dual tuner receiver, you can turn it into a single tuner by adding the Disable Tuner 2 Code to the account. When the receiver has this authorization you will see a Comm T added to the model field in the diagnostics screen.

The Wally was never intended to run on a DP switch (although it does), we would recommend installing all (DPP) 44 switches.

This can be done in Salesforce or through the Call Center. For salesforce changes please reach out to your Salesforce Admin, or commercialoperations@dish.com. The Call Center (1 888 580 6656) should also be aware of this and able to add this code.”

I called and confirmed they can do this. Be aware this is for commercial accounts although I can’t imagine there are too many multi Wally consumer accounts, still good to know

...
Can you give me the contact information for the MDU team, from whom you received this reply? I have been having an account-level issue with any Wally on my account, where it disables DVR functionality and adds a "D" to the model field in the Diagnostics screen. I am now having the same issue with my Hopper Duo. I would prefer to email them first, instead of calling the number you listed, if they are only set up to deal with commercial accounts at that number. My account is not a commercial account, but it is apparently being treated as such. Nobody at the regular Dish customer support (that I have contacted anyway) seems to be able to remove this incorrect tag from my account.

that 800. Umber is the best way

The 888 number worked like a charm! There was indeed a "disable DVR" tag on my account, and they were able to get it successfully removed. So now I finally have DVR functions back on my Hopper Duo. I still have no idea how that tag got put on my account in the first place, but as long as it does not reappear, I am happy. The weird part is that the entire time, even with this "D" tag on the account, DVR functionality continued to work on my ViP211k just fine. So, whatever this tag does, it only seems to affect Hopper (and Wally) receivers.

Glad you got it going, hopefully not tagged comm for Commercial. The A code is
  • · Enables addressable on commercial
  • · Utilizes residential Invidi with no change
  • · Commercial Standby start time (3am) and durration (Approx. 6 hours)

couple more codes
Comm C is the disable inactivity standby conde that prevents receivers from going into standby.

Comm E is the Disable Entertainment Apps code, and this is required on public/privet and hospitality (FTG) commercial accounts.

So to finalize this discussion if you want your Wallys to be in single tuner mode Dish can and will put the T code in the system which will put it back to operation as if it was a 211.
which will allow 16 Wally’s on a DPH LNBF all on a single wire!
It would also allow 32 Wally's on a single DPP LNB, hooked up through a DPH42 switch.

The other lesson we have learned is that if you want to have a Hopper Duo without the DVR functionality (and more importantly, without the monthly DVR fee) then Dish can put the D code on your account to accommodate that also. In my case, I did not ask for that (and I still have no idea how I got it) but it happened anyway. This code is also available for residential accounts, apparently, since it did not have the "Comm" in front of it, it was just D. This would make the Hopper Duo operate as if it was a Wally.
