Will HR10-250 work as standalone DVR?

If I were to pull the access card out of my HR10-250, of course I'd lose DirecTV access and program guide info -- but could I still use the unit to record HD OTA programs?

Does anyone know offhand?

I'm pretty sure that all you would see would be an "Insert Valid Access Card" message, but I could be wrong.

No, the receiver will not work at all w/out an access card in it.
But, even if it DOES have a card, if the card is NOT activated, the receiver will NOT record ANYTHING, even OTA.
The ONLY thing you can do with a deactivated card is watch OTA & pause it - that's it!

Sorry to change the subject just a bit - but can you watch already recorded programs on a de-activated receiver?
