Wonder how many are seat that were actually paid at full ticket prices vs the hand outs and cheap 2 4 1 deals ?

I found out that the BOGO deal isnt for home opener. Its buy a ticket for home opener, get a ticket to another game in April or May
Purchase a ticket for Marlins Opening Night 2013 and receive a complimentary bonus ticket to any 2013 Marlins home game
in April or May!

damn...per press release they supposedly have sold 30k tickets
More than 30,000 tickets have already been sold for the 7:10 p.m. ET contest

well here are the attendance numbers for the 1st 3 games of the Expos 2001 home season (against NYM) for the fish to go for
45183
15317
11321

Marlins Park only holds about 39,000 or so...so that 45,000+ will not happen.

I am gonna say 33K+ and then about 9K the next two games after that.

Your right, it would be better to compare this years Marlins to the 2003 Tigers.

It's tough to compare this market to any because it is not very good. Too many transplants from other cities and countries....especially in a city where more than 60% of the population is not from here.

lets keep this topic in regards to the Marlins attendance...you want to talk about other teams attendance thats what the MLB thread is for ;)

Let see IF this works:

Not really, but this is the Tigers first 10 games of 2003

I believe the really low attendance was on Thursdays Day games (early get away games ?)

the press release says sold

Again the BOGO offer is one ticket tonight and get another ticket to a home game in April or May (but not tonight)

I think it was all originally intended for comparison, although, I can see how it got off track a little. For a little more comparison, here are the Marlin's numbers from last year. They finished 18th with 2,219,444 and averaged 27,401.

I'd like to unofficially change my poll answer. I originally said they would be under a million but now I think they will surpass that. Even last years last place (in attendance) Rays drew over 1.5 million. I don't see modern teams drawing under a million again even if they do have bad sales numbers. I'm sure ownership contributed to the Expos' problems but I think more of it had to do with the city of Montreal.
