Pilman,

This sounds like the hardest decision you ever made. It's a dollar,
I enjoy the programs that Voom provides, If or when they close the door, I will find another provider.

If you are that concerned that Voom may go under you may just want to forget it that way you want be so disappointed if they go under

I had a fantastic install experince. I think it depends where you live and who is used. Nobody can say that your install will be bad or good. If you know someone in your area who has VOOM ask them about it. Also I will double the $1 offer so that you make money on the deal.

You would be a food not to.

Some have smooth installations and some don't. The one that go smooth are the ones you rarely hear about, but the stories about the bad ones are posted everywhere.
My install was no dream I can tell you that. And now I am having to go through another nighmare to get an OTA upgrade (currently working with the third installer and still no set appoinment date/time).
Droolman7 is right, it isn't V* fault (well I guess in a way you could say it is, because they did afterall choose Installs Inc. and their subs as their installation company), the CSR's are working as hard as they can to satisfy the customers and get the installers out on schedule. It is installs Inc. that is screwing things up.
Like I have said over & over, Charles needs to get a handle on the installs. The installation horror stories are one thing that keeps people from switching or trying V*. The installers are the face of Voom. For almost all of the customers the installers are the only people representing the company that they will ever see face to face. So, it stands to reason that the installer should be professional, take pride in their appearence and work. And most of all be on time.

Pilman,

DOn't be fooled by the "It's only a dollar." I had voom, but got rid of it. The HD "exclusive" channels just weren't worth the money. They also only have 1 or 2 regional sports networks, which was why I ended up dropping it. But that's not to same that voom stinks, you may like it. Also, getting an install means time as well, waiting for an installer, etc. And voom has a poor reputation with installations.

But with the uncertainty that voom is under, i'd wait. I personally don't think that voom is gonna make it because there just is not enough demand for it yet. Maybe in 2 years, but not now. Voom may go dark in three weeks, so why not wait to see how this all pans out.

Your experience is not everyone's... Go and enjoy your provider and let the VOOMERs enjoy theirs.

Frankjo I really wonder what your agenda is in all of this. You have been bashing VOOM for the last two months with the same argument. Please refrain from doing this. We are getting tired of hearing the same argument all over. We do not go to the D* or E* forum and bash them and beleive me there's is a lot to bash about D* or E*. LIVE LONG AND BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU GOT. LET OTHERS DECIDE FOR THEMSELVE BASED ON WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN POSTED. YOU ARE BECOMING A NUISANCE RATHER THAN INFORMATIVE.

My 2 cents: if your install isn't what it needs to be, call Voom and they'll bend over backwards to fix it for you. My first experience wasn't terrific, but I called and got an installer who did it right, basically from the ground up, and I've been Vooming and happy ever since. They can't keep control over every installer in every part of the country, but the point is that they will work with you until you're happy. I am convinced that they have made strides in their installations overall, and I do not hesitate to do all I can to convince others to climb on the Voom wagon. When all this uncertainty is over with, I hope there's a real surge of new subscribers. People simply don't know what they're missing!

I am just blown away by Frank Jo, vurbano, and whoever with the emotional investment in seeing Voom fail. Do they hold stock in D* or E*? Why is it so important to them? And it's not enough that they do it here, they go to another forum and round up people to come back here.

Don't like Voom? Cancel it or don't order it but please guys....we got your point. Thanks for the opinion or facts or whatever. Unless you have new information, there is no sense in continuing the post the same thought over and over.

Pilman, I'll send you a dollar to cover it.

Frank, Just so that you remember you own post this is the stuff I am talking about. If you decide to follow the VOOM SAGA is one thing to ask questions and participate in the discussions in an intellectual way. But it seems like most of your paticipation is VENOM that we are all getting very tired hearing over and over again. There's a limit to eveything an I believe you are reaching that limit.

How long 'til Voom goes dark?

"Unfortunately folks, Voom may go dark pretty damn soon. Possibly within days. Even though the sale of the satellite needs to be approved by the SEC (which it will have no problem getting - there are no competition issues here), Cablevision may want to get it shut down ASAP. If there has been this much uproar at Cablevision to get rid of it, my hunch is that they are going to want cut the cord as soon as possible. The sooner it stops broadcasting, the sooner CVC can move on and stop bleeding money.

Sorry folks, my guess is Voom won't be around for the Super Bowl."

Voom is great, but moving to e*

"I do really like voom, but they haven't managed to add the RSN's, which was eventually a deal breaker. Also, i've had several months where I was billed twice, which didn't help either. I do hope that voom stays around long enough to catch on. I think they need to keep sinking money into advertising long enough for people to think of foam if they are switching to dish. Most people (regular folks, not electronics geeks like ourselves) still haven't heard of foam.

I have spoken with a few people who have thought about Voom, but unfortunately came to this forum, and thought the better of it. I've been way more pleased with voom than displeased. But the forum has a negative vibe to it that I think turns people off from voom. i have been in some of the other forums, and they don't seem as negative as this one. So, be mindful of that as well.

Thanks to Sean Mota for being the main voice of reason on this forum. When you speak Sean, everybody listens.

Hopefully I'll be back in a year because voom will have gotten their sh** together."

Leave Voom because of no Sports channel?

I don't have hate for Voom, but most of you folks aren't realistic

Most of you voomers are pathetic. Once the sale of your satellite is complete, your finished. Ergan isn't gonne give it back, he needs it.

Realistically, it really is going to take a MIRACLE for you guys to kep receiving Voom the way you do now.

and there's more.

I dont think Ive ever said Voom isnt worth it or that I want them to fail. Infact Ive probably caught as many or even more flames in my A$$ at AVS for being a Voom sub as any one else on this site. Your judgemental post reeks of ignorance. Get your facts straight before you bash.

Well if I go with them I'll probably just get a receiver for my self and my room since it wouldn't benefit the rest in my house, again I'm the only one who watched hdtv or uses the plasma in the house. Would they be able to install a second switch since I already have one via dish?

PILMAN, get VOOM. Try it out. If you don't like it get rid of it in 6 months. We love the VOOM exclusives. We had more than our share of service problems but VOOM ALWAYS came through for us and that is why we are...

still enjoying HDTV under "Drought Emergeny" Seattle skies, Gill
