XFL 3.0

This version of the XFL is getting the worst ratings of all.
0.40 and 0.44 last weekend, which is dismal.

Blunt fact is that while if you polled people they would all say they want "more football", the American people have rejected nearly a dozen spring and summer leagues for more than three decades. The truth is that most people are down with the NFL having slightly less than half the year and then all the other sports having their time.

50-50 on finishing the season.

I believe the niche for the XFL is for cities that do not have an NFL team. Those will be the cities that can put butts in the seats and viewers in front of screens. Cities with NFL teams are IMO less likely to really get energized by an XFL team.
I agree with most of what you say. getting more viewers from NFL Cites and the rest will take time, like years of it. finding building up Stars at Their level. they need not and the better that they have zero chance of going to the NFL.
Getting that SportCenter coverage is key.

If the NFL played an EPL like season, across 10 months, they'd sell tickets for the entire season. The problem with the "other" leagues is that they consist of inferior talent that can't play in the CFL, all the while not even trying to differentiate it as a game from the NFL.
  • 3 downs verses 4
  • A very simple fumble rule
  • A game clock that doesn't stop
  • Extra points as per rugby rules
  • All passes are live balls (but ball can not be advanced by offense without catching it). Incomplete passes must be recovered by the offensive team to maintain possession.
Things that aren't minor gimmicks that would change the game. Instead, it is generally the same game, with less able players. Some people will watch any football, but not enough.

That is high praise.
Can't make this stuff up

Liverpool is among the top echelon of football teams in the world, with a fan base in just about every country of the world. They have an estimated value of $3.6 billion. I can't imagine LAFC has that value. I mean, the locations seem right, the West coast, specifically the Northwest is crazy mad for soccer. It is almost like the value is exclusively the plot of land they are playing on.

To add evidence to my thoughts, LAFC had a bit over $100 million in revenue. Profit/Loss is a bit tougher to peg between US and Europe football because they actually pay players in Europe money, instead of bits of string. Liverpool were 7 times that. The MLS is somewhat a pyramid scheme and they definitely have it in their best interests to over value their franchises. The expansion of the MLS is pretty much the only thing moving the league forward. It sure the heck isn't the gameplay.

MLS teams do not even belong to the "owners". The owners all own the league as a group and the players work for the league, not the individual teams. The different celebrity "owners" are just marketing, like pro wrestling.

Forbes is generally a good magazine, but it does this "rich list" deals of valuing sports teams (not just the MLS all of them) and it is just numbers pulled out of someone's a**. Remember that the MLS has had three defunct teams, including one in LA, plus multiple teams that have been on and off of "hiatus".

The thing is over the past decade or so they have undervalued these sports teams. so few teams change hands and there are so many grown a** men who want these Toys. and they pay thru the A** LOL :eeek

And the XFL is in full collapse. Four games last week, 0.19, 0.17, 0.16 and 0.15. No longer even beating MLS or women's basketball (which got similar dismal ratings).

60-40 on finishing the season. ESPN could show a 30 for 30 rerun and do better.
