Hey guys,

So...I'm putting together a system for a dorm room type space 20x15 ft' ish. I've been looking around forum searching ect and wanted your opinions on my thoughts.

Speakers: Yambeka 5.0

AVR: (Here is the uncertain part)

Onkyo Tx-sr507 5.1
or
Onkyo Tx-sr606 7.1
or (maybe even)
Onkyo Tx-sr706 7.1

Not exactly sure which would give me the power i need while still maintaining price budget. (Budget isn't huge but I would like to be frugal).

Not sure about a Subwoofer yet. Not as big a deal but If you have any suggestions let me know maybe 250-350 price range.

Thanks
Kyle

The 507 will decode advanced CODECs fromHDMI input.

The 606 will do this as well, and in addition it will do the following:

Upconvert video to 1080p
Convert component and composite to HDMI.

I find these two features very useful for simplifying switching from older sources. If all your sources have HDMI outputs, that may not be as useful and then the 507 may just do the trick.

So you think the 507 will be plenty of power for the system?

I've never owned the Yambekas. It would be just fine for my Klipsch's. I run some fairly inefficient and cheap Denon HTIB speakers with my 605 in a 12x13 bedroom, but then I don't tend to blast stuff either. I'm an old fart.
