So, its possible to "relocate" and change the locals received.

The way i understand it, however, is that if the locals i want to switch to are on the same satellite but a different spot beam, I am unable to phantom change my location and pick up those channels where i currently am.

Or am I wrong?

Any spot is not attainable outside the spot's range, any spot sharing a transponder would not be viewable inside another spot on the same transponder. Several different spots would be viewable within one are, but they would be on different transponders. Most spots only cover about 250 - 300 miles around a specific dma and would not be viewable outside that specific area.

The question I have is how you figure out if you can get a channel? For example, looking at The List I see it says a channel is on Transponder 7 Spotbeam 10. How do I know if I can get that channel? Thanks!

OK, so even if the spotbeam map shows I am in the footprint if I get no signal on the transponder means I would not get that channel?
