One thing you need to remember in regards to the banner that said 27 new HD channels was that it was put up before MHD was added on Thursday. When MHD was added the banner was never changed to say 28.
if that's the case then there error in mhd not being counted made up for counting golf aand versus as 2 different hd channels. either way the current counf of 32 is correct in my mind (for new channels added),,, of course not counting national rsn;s, nfl ST / superfan, hockey, mlb, ppv, etc.

I'm faster than you are ha ha ha...just kidding:D:D:D:D:D:D

I gotta say that this latest HD launch is umm a tad bit depressing but I'm still happy to see new HD channels.

I remember when a lot of people were begging for just one HD channel to be added only a few short weeks ago. Now today we are complaining (feeling depressed) that they only added four channels.

Scott, if I remember correctly, I thought HGTV and FX were going to be added today as well? I am curious if you have any "thoughts" on it?

Thanks

Over on DBS there is a link that talks about when the RSN's are "scheduled" to be released. It looks like there will be quite a few added on the 17th if all goes well. The thing on this link that isn't right is that MSG and FSNY were suppose to be live in September and obviously that didn't happen.

Here is the link:

Hopefully FX and HGTV are added next week as well, but I can see them waiting till the last minute on FX for the Nip/Tuck season premiere on Oct. 30.

Use the menu to restart your recorder.

When the first blue screen and/or the blue light on the front comes on, hit 0 2 4 6 8 on your remote.

The screen will change to the searching for/downloading software screen if there is a release out there more recent than the one you have.

Word of caution: If you force a download, the unit WILL download the most recent national release if you don't have that version. If you have a newer version (the CE beta versions, for example), and you force a download outside the CE release windows, you WILL revert back to a national release and lose the CE features and stuff that you had previously.

This could explain why DIRECTV is upping the subscription fee to $17.99/month from the current $15.99/month starting Wednesday.

That is a lot for T&A and no intercourse. Playboy stinks! They don't show enough. We need a porn premium channel with everything, instead of those PPVs that are way overpriced.

We do?
Who is we?

With 10+ porn PPVs (Jenna, XTC, etc), somebody must be ordering it. Why not offer a flat monthly rate on an HD Porn premium. "We" is the subscriber base to Dish/DirecTV, not specifically any person or group of persons. I am speaking specifically of a fair offering, a reasonable offering, for those that want it. Don't act as if nobody watches porn. It is a multi-billion $$$$ industry. Not sure what rock you have been under if you didn't know that.

What isn't clear to me in that linked post is that there are only 4 RSN's slated for 10-17 (Chart D). Given the volume of HD RSN's and the volume of channels already rolled out, that wouldn't qualify in my book as "quite a few". Now if the RSN's listed on Chart E from that linked page were to be added on 10-17 too, THAT would be quite a few! ;) :up :D

since i actually work in this multi- billion dollar industry out here in the valley as a professional photo retoucher (no kidding) and office manager; is anyone REALLY sure they want HD porn?

trust me i stare at raw images of these women 40 hours a week and 90% of these women need HEAVY retouching. sometimes i want to pull my hair out! many of the companies i know of aren't jumping on the HD or Blu-Ray bandwagon either as the DVD sales for adult entertainment are really dropping as most of us have already or are switching to web streams. and then there's the format war. some of the stuff obvioulsy is in HD but, i don't think this will be one war that porn decides... ther'es just not enough money in it to make the switch. you shoot your footage, you take your pics- edit it all in house and put it online. you save tons of money on duplications, printing, etc. etc. the company i work for does a few million in business a year and i'd say about 5% of that is in actual physical dvd sales. it may be a decent chunk of change but, not enough to invest tons of $ in HD equipment (although we do have one HD camera). plain and simple most of the "talent" don't want to be seen in HD and switching to HD won't boost profits enough to make sense financially when you figure in all the costs to do it.

But, anyhow, yeah- be careful what you wish for...

I have been unable to get any speicfics for this week yet - my main contact is on vacation.

I await the Wednesday morning surprise.

Scobuck, what about Monday since the Fox Business Channel is announcing a Monday launch? Also, will I ever receive an answer from you or Scott about the NHL Network?

Based on the NHL CI HD listings and some other postings I'd say it's a very safe bet that FSN West/Prime Ticket HD are coming.

Wow... at face value your job sounds fun but my god, you must have reached the point where you are so sick of looking at the naked body of a female, seeing all the flaws and all. I'll bet you can't help but think of the flaws when you see a nice looking woman out in public. What a horrible job. It must have ruined women for you. haha
