SatelliteGuys.US DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report Discussion- Week Ending 02/02/08

Don't worry, be happy :)

Dish was probably just cleaning up the TPs today, to make room for all the new HD stuff on Feb 1st.

Channels 5300-5354 now contain mirrors of all the non-Voom HD channels with MPEG4 tags with the exception on The Science Channel. They are all in a new, unknown package and available (hidden unless you subscribe to that package). My guess is... HD Only package warming up?

Until Digiblur wakes from his evening slumber, check it out on the Dish List (Dish Network Channel Chart (Unofficial)) Courtesy of ANON

Some people have to sleep around here :) http://www.satelliteguys.us/1212329-post2.html

That would be my guess on the HD package deal.

Are some of the 110 Sat HD Nationals still MPEG2 (TNT,HDNet,?). Is this uplink indicative of them being eliminated "soon" and requiring anyone still using 811, 921, 942 to finally have to upgrade if want to watch HD ?

It does indicate that you will need an MPEG4 capable to get the new package, even though the channels have not changed format.

Just think what we could have if every Sub owned or leased a MPEG4 receiver. Is there any data out there that shows how many MPEG2 receivers are being used compared to MPEG4?

Thanks Digi, got all excited this morning when I saw a change so early. Hope there is another tomorrow. Would love to watch SG Atlantis in HD:D

All four sats (3 U.S., 1 China) will be up in the air and operating before Dish gets back all of the MPEG2 receivers.

Yeah maybe we will something tomorrow or sometime next week but looks like this coming month could be busy.
