Greetings!

I just signed up for dish network service an hour ago and I'm feeling really disappointed. The rep I signed on with was a very friendly female. I didn't think much of her accent but shortly after I hung up I had another question so I called back and another female answered my questions but this one had an even stronger accent. Both women were very helpful and respectful. They answered all my questions. The last question I asked the second call agent was where was her call center based out of.....Of course.....India.

Does Direct TV also outsource call center operations overseas as well?

Nope

One workaround with E* is to always choose the Technical Support option when you dial in. I believe those folks are all located stateside. Anyway, I have never had any problems with them as far as understanding them, they have a much deeper knowledge of most topics, and I have never been turned away even if my question was not on a technical issue. Try that group next time!

BTW - Welcome to the OP...!

If they answered all your questions and were understandable, what's the problem where they were at? Seems like a niggling complaint to me.

When you've got an issue and you can't understand 'em and you get no results, seems to me that's problem time.

Many US companies have call centers in other countrys (india). Call AT&T DSL Help Center, Call HP Tech Support, Call Kodak tech support.

Thats the point. When and where will it end? The way things are going our kids wont have many options for work. Its a frightening outlook and this trend continues. Corporate profits over country.

. Not Customer service! I want Phone numbers and addresses. I had a nice long conversation with Dishnetwork on this matter. And they claim their Customer service headquarters is in the Philippines.

Well, there is one right here in Thornton, Colorado, there is one in El Paso, Texas, and I know there is also one in Pennsylvania.
You're going to have to put a little effort in to it yourself if you want more details...........

Some companys do out source so they can re-invest in a company by making more jobs here. Companys do save money by doing this. That way they can make room for better jobs here in the states. Hard to believe but some not every company does this. Do I want to talk to someone in India? Oh hell no:)

I had to cancel a credit card once because Mujibar tried to fool me by telling me he was in Denver, California. Just wasn't confortable with someone outside the US' jurisdiction having my credit card information. Who exactly goes and arrests them if they screw with my credit or my identity?

Do you really want your kids working in a call center? You should have higher aspirations for them.

Cust Service

Dish has call centers in OK & PA. Just a hint.... If you call before 6pm EST chances are you will talk to someone at one of them. If you call after 6:00, most likely it will be a call to the Phillipines.

Maybe not for their lifelong careers, but it is menial jobs like these that can help pay the bills while working through college.

Keep in mind that these outsourcing gimmicks, etc. are ultimately doomed to failure. The apex of it will come as the very people these companies seek to sell their goods to ultimately end up unemployed because of those very same tactics. Outsourcing does no good when your customer base is out of a job. So there will be a period of time where people will be unemployed in the middle class, lower class, etc. but soon after the upper class will find themselves in the breadlines when their companies come crashing down due to a lack of consumers. I'm not sure what the recovery period will look like.

What's wrong with call center careers?

I curently staff for a call center and can understand most people's concerns with jobs going overseas.

I believe that if you get good customer service, who cares where they come from. :eureka
