What's happening with the Sat Launch?

As a D* sub, I must say it sucks that this happened. I was looking forward to having E* go after D* in HD, to give the satellite providers an HD war that the cable companies would have trouble keeping pace with. I hope D11 has no issue on Monday.

My guess is that they'll have to pull back on the promise of HD locals for a while. When E11 goes up to 110, they might focus more on national HD.

QFT.

I think the biggest problem is that without another sat. waiting in the wings to fulfill the duties of AMC-14, we E* customers are hosed for the moment.

That will, however, translate to $$.

So in a way, the money DOES matter at this point.

I'm sure E* will figure something out. They have to figure something out!

I guess my money comment was more geared toward the loss of the satellite itself.. But customers are not going to care about why they don't have new HD.. Only that they don't have new HD. And yes that is going to translate into lost revenue

Well I guess the uplink reports are really going to get interesting now.. They are going to undo everything and go back to the drawing board

That is certainly a possibility. I would think they might have some other options. I would love to see them dump all the stupid infomercial channels, jewelry channels and a couple of HD-PPV in favor of National HD.

This could absolutely hurt the progress of HD LiL's.

I'm sorry for the bad news guys.... man this just sucks.

Forgot about that one.. I was going to say that D* was celebrating somewhere, but I guess they will hold the celebration until D11 gets up safely.

Wow - 2nd failure in a row from "one of those 'Stan' countries". Maybe they should get a new launch partner.

Huge bummer. I guess it's time to look seriously at D* or Comcast.
