How do you explain all the ones they dont have then.....

I don't know, how do you explain the ones directv doesn't have. All carriers no doubt are in constant negotiations with channels, however the difference is fios lets viewers see these channels as soon as agreements are reached, and do not hold them for a later date.

And you have proof D* doesnt? So i guess Fios cant even get agreements with the channels they dont have? Why not? Other companies can. I guess they should try harder
Basically I am asking, what is your point. No one single provider can get every channel on launch day for whatever reason, yet you are bragging over ONE that Fios may get first in SOME markets

So you think directv has consistently reached agreements with every channel late on tuesday nights? Seems unlikely.

Didnt say that. Apparently Fios hasnt either. All I am saying. If you are going to single them out on adding this ONE channel in a timely manner, ask why they havent on the others.

So do you have any thing to back up that they're in negotiations for all the HD channels that D* does have but FIOS doesn't? There's a bunch of channels that D* has that FIOS doesn't have on their list at Verizon | FiOS TV . If it was negotiations why don't they have the Starz channels in HD that D* has while they have the main Starz East channel in HD?

You lost me.

You lost me.
They add stuff as soon as possible, that is what you said. You also said it is what ever provider should do.

Yet there are many channels available that they dont have. How does that compute.
Seems you put them on a different level than anyone else and they dont reach it.

You say FIOS lights up a channel as soon as it becomes available. But then you back track a bit and say maybe not if they're negotations still for the channel. What I'm asking is do you have proof to back up that statement since it doesnt' appear to be factual. I presented the example that FIOS has the main Starz channel in HD but none of the others, which are available. Usually the negotations would cover all the HD channels from that content provider so where are the other Starz HD channels on FIOS that D* does carry?

Here is the list of HD channels Verizon offers, a whopping total of 15.

HD NATIONAL Channel
TNT HDTV 825
TNT HDTV [WEST] 825
NFL Network HDTV 828
HD Net 833
HD Net Movies 834
Universal HDTV 835
HD Theater 836
Wealth TV HDTV 837
National Geographic Channel HD 838
MHD 839
Food Network HD 840
HGTV HD 841
A&E HD 842
Lifetime Movie Network HD 845
Discovery HD 846

I count a total of 7 that I would even watch a little.

This is right off the Verizon fios page, unless there are others scattered in the other sections , but this was under the HD section for them, I see NO ESPN (s) No Starz even mentioned.
For that matter I don't see ANY Movie channel listed in HD.

Opps, ESPN was not listed in the HD section, but was listed in the Sports section.
The list is somewhat disorganized if you ask me.
They have LOTS of Movie channels and a few in HD, looks like generally one of each.

Verizon | FiOS TV

Jimbo

Jimbo, the ESPN's are in a sports section, and the movie channels in HD are listed after the section that lists all these movie services SD channels.

Most importantly they lead directv in many markets as far as offering the vital networks in hd- abc, cbs, nbc, fox, cw, pbs, as well as many local channels similiar to those you get in sub channels with OTA.....24 hr local news, weather etc. For example, fios offers 9 local hd channels in providence, directv a whopping 2. These are channels people watch far more than stretch o vision hd national networks and the smithsonian channel.

Don't you mean in the markets that they actually provide any service at all? I do believe that DirecTV would beat them in TOTAL markets provided, hands down.
