The problem right now is that no critism of anything is allowed in the other forums. The BD forum needs to be open to the point of people being able to criticize. Like the PS3 critcal article moved to the war zone!
Great point, if the warzone is removed there would have been nowhere to dump the PS3 article. At that point the mods will have to crack down in some way. How, I don’t know but we’ve all heard the horror stories of trying to regulate a forum. Is the definition of a forum to simply cheer for a specific topic, or is it to have discussions about anything that deals with that topic? Most would argue that talking about the PS3 playback quality was a BD only issue, but it was moved to the warzone. I find it hard to believe that in the future more of these types of articles or concerns will come up. Will all BD concerns be moved, deleted or frowned upon. To me it just seems like deleting the warzone is setting the stage for future problems with how to govern the forum. No doubt resulting in hard feelings whether it be BD fans who only want to cheer, or the other side who have legitimate concerns.

I vote to close it. There is no more format war and there is only a need to discuss the direction BD is heading and what can be done to improve the format. And that can be done in the BD forum.

What a surprise, Joe wants to squelch all anti-BluRay conversation.

As long as there is still any HD DVD content out there (OK, more than 5% of HD Disc based media sold), it should stick around...

What about concerns???

I for one have always been an advocate of free speech. If you do not like BluRay then don't buy it. Nobody is holding a gun to your head. Every cable and satelite sevice now provides you with plenty of HD movie viewing opportunity. And there will be more providers just over the horizon. I like BD -- heck I like'd HD-DVD -- they just did not have enough studio support to get into the 3rd turn of the race. We now have one HD disc based medium to discuss, support or rail against. The name of this forum will have to be change because HD-DVD is no longer around. Perhaps we can call the the BD vs Anything Else War Zone for those of you who need a place to go to express your dislike of BluRay. Personally I just watched the move about Lafayette's Escadrille Squadron on BD (I just can't think of the name right now) and the movie and sound was fantastic. And I even watched the extras on the disc as this movie was based on real life American heros during WWI!

I voted to close it, but it does seems there is still some residual discussion around the topic as HD DVD supporters still feel a need to vent their frustrations and point to BDs flaws, so perhaps an extension is indeed warranted... though not indefinitely. Perhaps by that May 31 deadline listed in the polls we will all be ready to move on.

You think all BD flaws go away after May 31? Closing the warzone will cause alot of hard feelings and lead to added moderation. Behind the scenes PM’s to get people banned. I refer to Joe’s post that prove there is no tolerance for dissent.

Aha! The path has become clear, Grasshopper. Those of us who no longer see a need for this forum should simply withdraw ourselves from these pointless discussions that keep rehashing the same old gripes about BD. Therefore, allowing this forum to die a natural death.

Thankfully the mods had the foresight (with a little nudging) to see closing the warzone would turn the BD forum into a warzone. Can you imagine the crying is that happened? All you out there can save your votes the decision has been made. All is well.

I can see you QQ'ing on the BD forums 24/7..

Moving on, its cool to see the warzone going, it will keep the BD forums troll-free.
I am sure over the next few months more and more people will start accepting Blu-ray into their homes.

I don’t call voicing opinions about concerns trolling. All of us are not cheerleaders. Sony purchased the war and now most consumers are forced to make this decision to buy. So if downloading doesn’t catch on or the new cell based upconverters aren’t as advertised, I think it’s more then valid for us to iron out these concerns.
