Honestly, does anyone know the real holdup for SciFi-HD?

Do we know if D* has an exclusive until a specific date? This could be the other thing holding it up.

I don't think so. There are quite a few cable systems that have SciFi now. I have seen SciFi HD with my own two eyes on Adelphia in Morgantown, WV, and there are plenty of reports of SciFi HD on other systems.

Nothing contract-wise is holding this up. Everything is waiting on E.

That theory may go down the drain when E* lights up ESPNnews HD this week, and likely Two Disney Channels and ABC Family HD. If that happens and there is STILL no USA HD or Sci-Fi HD, then we will know for sure that there are contractual or Capacity issues behind the absence of USA and Sci-Fi.

If E* lights up USA and Sci-Fi as well, so much the better. But I am not holding my breath and I plan on watching BSG at the neighbors' (who have Directv).

Where you do you live? Can I come over too? ;)

The problem with your 250K theory is that all 250K of them don't have HDTV's and HD service. The most likely case, is that of those 250K subs demanding the channel, only 10% of them have HD Service.

So you are basically on the same ground as us subs, whom want our locals in hd, MSG-hd, YES, NFL Sunday Ticket or MHL EI etc.; Yes we pay good money to E* for our subscriptions, but if we go to D*, it will have little or no affect to E*'s bottom line.:(

The 250K i am refering to DO have HDTV...ie..current HD customers with HD TV's and potential customer's with HD TV's who go to another provider instead of signing up with E* ...

I think the hold up is Chuckie's big band theory. I think he knew he would be getting the 2 Sky Angel TP's on Apr. 1st so he want' s to make an extra big bang by turning on SciFi, and USA on 110 at the same time he adds several other new National HDs on 61.5 and 129. Of course I still believe in Sanat Claus, so what do I know

But you seriousily don't think that 250K of us HD subs or potentional hd subs, are gonna leave E* simply because we don't get BSG in HD?

Hell I had to spend an entire season of watching my hockey team mainly in SD, and didn't leave yet, because I like E*'s dvr and didn't want to go through the hassle of changing services in the winter.

Now that the season is almost over and the better weather is on its way; I will seriousily consider jumping ship, but that most likely wouldn't happen until football season, as I hold out on hope E* comes to their senses and gets my locals in hd, and other programming that I want (specifically a RSN that actually broadcasts in HD)

The number of folks leaving Dish because no SciFi HD will probably end up equaling the ones leaving DirecTV because of on-going issues with their DVRs:

People who don't know any better reading this would think you know what you are talking about.

This is pure speculation unless you have some demonstratable evidence.

Of course, it does serve quite well in creating anger and confusion.

Do we need all of these threads? Dish and NBCU need an agreement to carry SCI-FI and USA-HD. Charlie said on the chat that they are "ironing out" issues to have channels available in the near future. There have been numerous reports about the olympics and pressure from NBC. Here is one from MultiChannel News. I would love to have USA-HD, but I am willing to wait. I am not going to switch over to Direct for one show or one channel. The quarter is ending for Echostar and Dish Network, let's see how many subs were gained or lost. Dish has some work to do this quarter. Too many upset customers, but have they left.

NBCU’s Olympic Ambitions - 3/7/2008 2:27:00 PM - Multichannel News

my Attorney says "sue to get out of contract" , I can't believe I gave you guys a chance , there is NO reason that USA & SCI-FI HD shouldld be on air by now , but "Chump Change Charlie" is always looking to scrap pennys ( just not off your bill) to make his wallet fatter

"Ironing Out" = Pinching Pennies, Haggle the price , etc .....

That is probably the real reason - NBC/Universal holding USA-HD and SciFi-HD hostage for a squabble over Olympics coverage. Wasn't there a similar situation back in 2004?

Yeah like I said at this point we will probably get it when BSG finds Earth.. :)

if they don't put scifi on soon, I say don't bother.. last season of BSG.. not much worth being hd for anymore..

SGA will be back someday. Also "Caprica" is in the works. Still havent' seen Tin Man, the g/f is holding off for HD before we look for reruns. I'm sure they'll come up with something else.
