~Hispasat 1C.1D At 30.0°W~ PROBLEM!!

Good morning all,
A dilemma here to throw by the guys before I go to bed. My system when bought, the motor would not go past the 61.5 W position east, which was the farthest south it would go until I did a motor reset last night and now it goes past the 61.5 slot fine. I Have a question about the 30.0°W Hispasat 1C.1D Ku bird.
Is it below my site on the horizon? I have scanned this bird for the last 3 hours and nothing! Changed settings in the LNB (universal then single) this is a linear bird right? Other than the satellite may be below my line of site
Any suggestions?

Now looking at my old Skyangel dish and the KU band dish, it has moved well past the 61.5 W mark and to me, could be the 30.0°W position! I have tried everything but put a satellite meter on it yet! That might come today in the daylight! The dish is aligned properly and is plum as any professional installer would put it up so I am at a loss! Also might add that I go to everything else in the Clarke Belt that can be seen OK but this one bird!

:up The dish setup is right on the money with strong locks on transponders and satellites with the best quality given my location, I never have to "nudge" the motor for any reason well, at least so far I haven't knock on wood!

I used the satellite aiming calculator on TheList page, and put in your zip code.
It gave this for 30ºw Hispasat:
20.7º elevation, which should be fine unless there is a tree or hill in the way
124.1º azimuth by the compass
-43.9º skew, taken care of by the motor
Make sure the transponder you tune up on, has America under the column: Beam.

Try 11884V SR 27500, Cubavision is on that one and is aimed at North America, a lot of signals on that bird are aimed toward Europe.

Still Nothing On Hispasat 1C.1D !!

Hey guy's!
Good Morning!!

Still no signal from the Hispasat bird! I think that I have a hill blocking the signal from the satellite! I just hooked up a meter to it and nothing! It is around the arc in the right place, just no signal not even a bit!
I am attaching pictures of the hill in question. The second picture is what the LNB sees! The hill is not that big or tall but I guess if that bird is sitting up there father back in space it is enough for a small hill like this to block the signal!

Rats! This is the only bird I can't get!
I heard so much here about Cubavision! I guess this happens!

Last efforts, what are the correct settings in the Invacom, 22K on or off, and I know were Linear. Just to see if someone knows something different that I have not tried!

:up Settings on the dish are dead on according to The List so I know it is not a dish issue.

I also tried the 11884V SR 27500 with nothing! I think Mr. Hill has got me between a satellite and a picture!

For the Invacom QPH-031 (quad), use an 'L' output and set receiver as follows:

Standard
L.O. 10750
If you have no 22k switch in your line, 22k off
If you have no DiSEqC switch in your line, DiSEqC off

You may have to get your shovel out and move some of that hill Its hard to tell from the pictures but it appears the rooftops I can see are significantly lower than the top of the hill in the background. There is a transponder or two on 43.1W can you get any of them?

No starman, can not get a darn thing also on 43.1 W!

I am thinking the hill is to blame!

Yeah, tried or done this the first time I set up the bird to scan, I know with the Invacom the Linear should be no 22K. Tried it... Stupid hill's got me!

Just a weird thought!!! Can you take an inclinometer and a piece of conduit, put the conduit on some kind of support (sandbags on a table or???) set up the elevation and azmuth and bore sight and see if you clear the hill? If you hit the hill, you will know how much you have to blast away to get LOS for YOUR satellite! (Well maybe not that drastic) But, at least see if the hill is really the problem. For some reason, optimism gut is saying you can see over it!

starman, how powerful is this BEAM on this bird? I guess that is a dumb question for it might be powerful in some states and not so in others. I even used a SF95L meter today to see if I could get a signal but the meter never moved a bit! The Coolsat 6000 shows a level of about 75% level and about 65% quality but I found by just moving the dish in small increments that that never changed anything at all! It seems to be seeing noise or interference of some kind!

Now the meter is a Sadoun SF95L DSS DBS Satellite Signal Finder from Sadoun but it has worked so far for what I needed it for! Don't get me wrong here all you new guy's reading this, the SF95L meter is better than the old first versions of this meter the old SF-11 that I got from a FTA place in NYC!

It might be that raising your dish mount a little higher...

Someone asked me "what is a bore sight? Is that a pig gun?" NO! that is when you line up the gun or pipe and then look through it (the barrel or bore). It is great for line of sight. I did this for a friend down in a valley and found LOS from 123 to 80 something. He was happy.

I'm not far from you in Dunbar, WV. Getting 30W real good here. It's a shame that it might be the hill blocking your signal. Anole might have something with the taller pole thought.

I think that I am going to try another dish on top of the house! The house is a bit taller than the pole I have mounted on my out building the dish is already on! I am looking for maybe an old Primestar dish or a Globcast World Direct style dish or maybe a DIRECTV World Direct 36" Elliptical though for the sake of neighbors! I have so far 3 dishes out back!

:yikes They will think I am scanning for aliens when I get a C band bud sometime this year!

Low profile dish and a bit taller pole is what I am hoping for! I have my motorized setup on one of those tall Skywalker brand poles already; it is about 4 inches taller that what came with the Fortec Dish! (Known as the SuperDMount Like Sadoun Sells!) It is designed to get your dish taller above the roof on your home. I think they are being sold for the D* plus or the SuperDish 121 or the SuperDish 105.

I bought 2 of them 3 years ago for a great price and I am glad I did! I did the Inclometer thing and I think if I move another dish closer to the front of my home, I can get a LOS for that bird over that darn hill!

I have no way to try a site survey for the Hispasat 1C.1D satellite yet for I am for short of a dish! Plenty of Linear LNB's though!! :up

So now I am looking around on the net for one of those dishes I talked about above to get the project going!

Any one has suggestions on a good dish for the Hispasat 1C.1D bird? This one is going to be stationary dedicated just for that bird!

any dish 76 cm or larger will work. I use to use a Starchoice 75e dish which was 37x27 and that worked fine. Due to my northern location, some of the transponders didn't come in the best (that and also being at 9 elevation for the dish which pretty much made the dish face almost level to the roof. Most of the muxes came in around 55-60 on the Pansat 9200 which the meter can read low. In the pic below you can see how low the dish looks. I had to turn the mast around 180 degrees and its not level but it worked.

I know of people who used 80cm up to Primestar dishes for that and they work fine.
