I have recently installed a second sata HDD in my PC and my PC will not recognize it. I has went into th bios and turned on the SATA 2 port which is where the drive is installed. When XP boots the drive is not visible under My Computer.

I do not know what RAID is, thus RAID is currently off on my PC.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try going to the Control Panel. Then Administrative Tools. (Make sure your Control panel is showing Classic View if that option is on the left).

There is an icon in there called COmputer Management, run that. Then click on the left for the Disk Management. This is where Windows sees raw disks. You should have one there that has something on it such as C: drive and if the new drive is there it will show as a big blank section saying its empty. If thats the case then you can click on it and tell it to make a new Partition. The Partitions are what windows sees in My Computer, not the raw disk.

Sorry thats a vague overview sort of, but hopefully gets you somewhat there.

Thanks! I followed your advice and it seems to be working. It is at least visible under My Computer now.

Thanks,
Mike
