Which college football games are you most excited for?

Ohio State - USC comes to mind.

tOSU/USC is at the top of my list as well.

Georgia/Florida may be interesting when it rolls around.

Others are: Kansas/South Florida, Auburn/West Virginia, Kansas/Oklahoma, Meechigan/tOSU (can't get away from that one living in Ohio), and of course all the LSU SEC games (and App. St./LSU - worried a little about that one).

Couple from the Big East I'm keeping an eye on:

Cincy @ Oklahoma - can the Bearcats keep up with Bradford?

Fresno St @ Rutgers (season opener) - which team will prove it's "for real?"

Miami vs. Florida ....ALL the Gator fans down here are predicting that they will crush The U.....And the 'usual suspects', Florida State and VaTech at Dolphins Stadium.

Also looking forward to Michigan vs. Ohio State.....

Do they expect to have decent attendance at Dolphin Stadium? The stadium is a lot farther from the campus than the OB was and attendance wasn't that good last year.

9/1 - Marshall - 39,830
9/15 - FIU - 40,915
9/20 - aTm - 44,622
9/29 - Duke - 30,614
10/13 - Georgia Tech - 52,416
11/3 - NC State - 34,621
11/10 - Virginia - 62, 106

Granted, aTm might have been the most desireable game on that clunker of a schedule, but if they bring that type of attendance to Dolphin Stadium its gonna look quite empty most of the time.

Have you ever been to the Orange Bowl? It was an old, nasty stadium that I dearly loved, but the decay and the lack of upkeep really did it's toll on her. Full was considered about 58,000....HOW they got over 62,000 against VaTech is beyond me. And considering they didn't expect to have a good team, those a decent numbers. The stadium being far from campus has nothing to do with attendance. Alumni is spread ALL OVER the south Florida and parts of the middle state as well. Hell, there is a HUGE alumni base for both FSU and UF. And remember, the bread and butter of the south Florida sports scene is NOT baseball but football. For as huge as the latin base is down here....this will ALWAYS be a football town.....for a long time, the Dolphins and the 'Canes were the only show in town.

Other than VT games...

LSU at Auburn, which I am attending.
Ohio State @ USC
Georgia-Florida
LSU @ Florida
Georgia @ LSU
Georgia @ Auburn

The Virginia game was the final game ever at that dump so i guess it brought out more "fans" than usual.

The Virginia game was also not a sellout. I'm only going by what Wikipedia says since that can often be incorrect, but the capacity was still listed at over 74,000.

I do realize the OB was in quite a state of disrepair and it was in UM's best interest to move to Dolphin Stadium (think someone from one of the U's 80s teams saw the lockers at the OB and remarked that they looked no different than when they played ther) for facility purposes.

As bad a shape the OB was....when that placed was filled to capacity.....there was no place more intimidating to me. I went to Michigan the year Miami played there and came back from a 30-14 deficit with less than half a quarter of football left...and Miami cameback to win the game. At no point, to me, was those 102,000+ Wolverine fans were ever as loud as a packed house at the OB.

But she was in real bad shape......

PLUS, facilities DO help in recruiting....and Dolphins Stadium is state of the art stadium for home and visiting teams. An as far as capacity, that 74,000 was according to the old plans.....they had made some changes, from what I read where ACTUAL capacity was 64,000.

Miami had better draw more than the 20,000 or so that used to get at the OB or the only recruiting impact will be will be other teams using it against Miami. I think Miami might be the only team in the country that is going to have to play half its home games with a baseball infield on the field. That's not likely to impress recruits. The nearly 2 hr drive from Coral Gables to Dolphin Stadium will not be an advantage either.
