Well, I'm trying to get this program running, but when doing the install, it asks for the serial number, I give it the number and it says it is wrong, says my Product CD Key is incorrect, this is the only serial number I have with the unit.

What do you do now and how did you all get past this ?

Have you already used the key on another computer? I noticed that they have it where you can only activate each key once.

I got that taken care of finally, but now when I try to use the program,it opens and searches, it found my set up once .... I went back in to try again and it looks and looks and cannot find my set up again.

Will try again when I get home from work.
I'm using a wireless set up, hopefully thats not an issue.

and suggestions from here ?

Jimbo

OK guy's
Now that I'm home and have time to play abit.
I opened up the Direct2pc program and it found my set up right away :up
When I go into play a show it comes up with the Microsoft Error saying that the program needs to close, would I like to send a trouble report to Microsoft.

Now when I try it again, it will NOT find my equipment, I tell it to search again and it finds nothing.

For those who are getting the error "Video's Audio is Protected..." I solved my problem, in your computers Device Manager you need to update your High Definition Audio Codec, its located where your sound card drivers are. All I did was to insert the Driver CD that comes with my motherboard and updated that driver. If you know your mobo manufacturer download latest sound driver and just update that part. Im not using the integrated sound card in the mobo, but still I needed to update that driver.

Tried to use it again tonight, just to see if it would work.
It keeps saying "Server not found"...
Scan again, still no luck.

Ran a test on the HR20-700 and my Network is connected and so is my Internet, according to the test.

Did you check your firewall settings? Try to disable it and then if it works you can add the directv app to override the firewall

My set up was working fine...my computer isn't great, but SD was playing fine for a couple of days. While I was watching the Giants game in the kitchen the connection drops and now it can't find my reciever. restarted the software and restarted the computer...no dice. when i launch the software it comes up and wants to search for my reciever, but never finds it. It initally worked like a charm and the kids were happy that if someone was watching Dragon Tales in the living room they could come in on the kitchen laptop and watch Phineas and Ferb......Any ideas??

armrh,
Your thinking it's the firewall ?

edit: I just looked under the firewall tab in Control Panel and the D* program IS listed under Exceptions
any other ideas ? :info

Maybe, because your firewall can block incoming connections from the network. I did a clean format to my PC and installed the directv app and worked like a charm. Then I installed my antivirus that messed with the firewall and I had trouble finding the server, then it detected an incomming connection and I put an exception and it worked. I´m using MS One Care.

I think I'm on to something here.
It seems that it's just a case of not waiting long enough for it to search, I thought when the blue circle was gone , that it was done searching, appearantly not.
This past time, I started the program, it did not find the server, I walked way to do something and when I came back, it had found it.

edit: Well, it appears that I cannot duplicate my success after all, still seems to be a hit and miss situation, waited 5 minutes this past time. However, since I removed the Power DVD program I have not had the Microsoft error.

edit 2: Once I went back into the program and hit Scan again, it did find it this time.
Still a H&M situation ....so far.

First time I tried it and it worked fine. Now when I load, it loads fine but nothing shows up in the guide and it says I have no recorded programs?

Problems I have observed:
1. The adviser incorrectly identifies XP X64 as Windows 2003 server.
2. There isn't an X64 version of DirecTV2PC which would probably run better.
3. I get a lot of error 503's when I try to play various shows SD. Retry still errors.
4. I was playing MSNBC Squawk Box that was taking audio from somewhere else.

The problem is for my computer (HP Touchsmart PC) is that the drivers I am usinig are the latest drivers.

I give up for now. All connections right, internet working yet I get no shows coming up in the guide. It did work first time I tried it but nothing since.
