Iceberg. I downloaded the firmware and installed it into my CS 8000. Upon rebooting I didn't see any difference in the menu. Maybe it has some kind of repairs needed to improve the receiver. Right now G18 is the only satellite programmed and in the meantime I will keep on checking it out. I will email the company as soon as I can and find out what is the reason for the new firmware.
I will keep you posted.

Iceberg, I sent a email last night at midnight, when I went to bed. I asked what the new firmware do as far as the CS 8000 is concerned. I also asked if I could use a external hard drive to record FTA channels.
When I got up this morning, I checked my emails and lo behold, I got a response! Funny thing is there were no answer about what the new firmware is about, but did get a response about converting the CS 8000 into a PVR. They said yes.
I emailed again, asking about the firmware. Hope to get a answer. By the way, the firmware is from Free Tech. Hmmmmmm...

OK cool. Other than the sat names going back to the old names (Telstar 4, Telstar 6, etc) I didnt see any difference. Hopefully it will allow you to hook a PVR to it :)

I was happy all the channels stayed in and the motor settings were still in tact

What is the word about 2025A firmware that was posted on the coolsat site in January 2009?

I just obtained a Coolsat 8000, I believe it has hackware (autoroll is one of the config options) and I'd like to clean it out and put in legit firmware, just for legal piece of mind if anything.

I have the loader and cleaner from other threads, I just wonder if 2025A is good or if I should use 11192A or 11138A that I found in other threads.

My purpose of obtaining the Coolsat 8000 is S2 and H264 video, if that helps form a reply as to what factory software I should put in my receiver for as bug-free results as possible for tuning/watching those format signals.

Thanks.

I'm using 2025A without any issues, since it was released. I don't think you have anything to worry about .
:)

sounds great! I'm glad it's not flubbed up factory firmware.

do you think I should put in the feedback "cleaned out the hackware, put in factory firmware, works great!" ;)

Yeah, might tell them how good REAL HD can look !
:)

My point was to publically call them out as a hacker (since the receiver they sold has hack firmware in it).

I think I"ll play it safe and not do so. I did get a PM from the seller "Did you receive the Coolsat yet? Please leave feedback if so".

I wrote in a PM back "I'm cleaning out the hack software you put in it and will try it with factory software. Positive feedback will be left if the receiver isn't DOA or broken using the factory firmware"
