New news on Cutler

Wow, Denver robbed the Bears. If Cutler doesn't pay dividends GM and Lovie just set the franchise back 5-6 years. Hope Denver sticks with Orton... will be entertaining lol.

Considering the situation, I'd say Denver made off like bandits!

You think Denver WON this trade?

They traded away a big-armed gunslinger for a weak-armed wimp. Bears won big time.

This is the equivalent of trading in Megan Fox for a girl with a great personality.

There is no way Orton or Simms can get the ball consistently to Royal and Marshall.

Are you daft? Orton was not the object of the trade, it was the picks, he was a throw-in.

We basically gave up a 5th rounder for Orton.

And in return we got 2 firsts, and 3rd for Cutler. Not too shabby for a disgruntled player that didn't want to be here.

We have an O-line. Chicago did not.

Orton is in his final year of contract, if he (or Simms) doesn't work out, adios, and we draft a QB with our 2 #1's next year.

Cutler was a risky gunslinger, ala Favre.

BTW, did you forget we have McDaniels, who turned Matt Cassell into a pretty decent QB?

What's so great about Orton? He's too conservative- I think he's afraid to take a risk.

OK, are you just dumb?

Did you not read my post? Obviously not....

The Denver Broncos DID NOT trade for Kyle Orton.

Plus, with an O-line, some GREAT receivers, and McDaniels as a coach, he might just surprise all of us.

McDaniels scheme needs a disciplined leader, who is willing to learn, listen, and do. Cutler was not that guy.

You get that from him playing 1 whole season? And playing on a running team this last year with Forte who doubles as a WR too. Orton will surprise. He had no receivers and now Cutler has none. Great opportunity for a tough minded QB who is not afraid to take a hit. Orton has a better w-l record also. Gonna be fun seeing who is named the starter between Simms and Orton.

Even though we gave up 1 pick too many, I still think the Bears get the better of this trade. They also knew that Pace would sign today as well. O'line will improve, need 1 more receiver, but the Bears play in a weak division, (so does Denver), but this trade makes the Bears the division favorite, doesn't let Mn or Det get him. Plus, it ends the stigma of the Bears not having a QB. Cutler is a life long Bears fan, he'll be thrilled to play here.

Neither, Jeff Garcia signs there.

Knowing McDaniels, he'll draft a QB in the later rounds this year and turn him into the next Matt Cassel. I'm holding all judgements on McD until I see him and his teams in action. I'm pretty much writing off this year as a 3-13 year until proven otherwise.

How about that??

2 #1's, a 3rd, PLUS a player......

Guess you guys undervalued him just a bit, eh?

I'm surprised. I know the Lions were not going to part with that much. I would say this makes the Bears the team to beat in the "Black and Blue" division. The Bears were a team that has been looking for a QB since McMahon, not quite as long as the Lions. They've been looking for 51 years, going on 52.

This was a good trade for both teams. Like I said above, getting Cutler puts the Bears in control of their division, as well as a leg up to the SB. The NFC is up for grabs, no dominate teams there. The time was now for the Chicago Bears.

As for Denver, they were heading into a rebuilding project with a new coach and GM, and they picked up a servicable QB in Orton. He will hold down the fort until whoever Denver drafts for QB is ready. The two #1's give them plenty to build with. The time is later for Denver.

I would have loved to have cutler in Detroit, but not at that price. Our time is the later part of this century, after I'm dead. We have too many holes to fill (about 40 of them), to spend our picks for one guy.

I generally stick to commenting about Detroit. I'm intimately familiar with my hometown teams. I'm sorry about Detroit too.

Anyhow this was an easy one to grade. Like I said , the time was now for Chicago, so they were willing to mortgage a little of the future, before that defense started to age out of contention. Denver waited too long to start rebuilding and that's why they made the changes at GM and HC. Denver will get young in a hurry now.

i'm glad to see chicago finally doing something about their issues at QB. took them long enough but 2 #1 picks plus orton is a bit too much for me. But i'm glad the Drama is over. does anyone know exactly what #1 picks the broncos received for Jay? I'm sorry if this was posted already.

They get this years # 1 from Chicago #18.
Next years #1 from the Bears, probably around the same area and a third this year (think it was this year and not next) and Kyle Orton.

thank you JIM. I truly believe denver got the better part of this deal. they might be able to draft a franchise qb in this years draft. while the bears gave up those draft picks with other holes to fill besides qb. maybe it will be a win win situation in the long run for both teams.
