2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

He started to emphasize more on D than scoring. Plus we didn't have the same caliber of players as last year. They spent too much time trying to get Hossa.

The Pens got hot down the stretch after getting Hossa, getting the #2 seed in the East (the day they got him, they were a point behind New Jersey for the division title), going 12-2 against the three East playoff opponents, and he had 26 points that playoff.

Also, they didn't lose a home game for nearly four months.

Capitals defeat Rangers, 5-3.

The series is tied 3-3 with the decisive game 7 on Tuesday night in DC.

If the Capitals win they will play either New Jersey or Pittsburgh.

If the Rangers win they will play Boston.

Thanks guys and I am glad I help fill a void.

It is going to be hard for the Capitals to blow 2 Game 7's in back to back appearances. However, the Rangers love when the pressure is on the line and I think they made enough "bone head" plays (i.e. Avery not checking, too many odd man rushes, not using the boards to clear pucks, etc.) to realize what they did and will be able to correct it in time for Game 7.

My prediction:

A low scoring game gives the advantage to the Rangers and that is what we will see as the Capitals with Game 7 on their minds from last year will not be pressing so much nor going full speed

Rangers 2-1 with the tie-breaking goal happening in the final three minutes of play

** I will also not be surprised to see this game go into Overtime

That would be fun.......Boston vs. New York again! :) :up

Sorry the Celtics are feeling Garnett's absence . . . I did not see this series as a problem if Garnett was available; however, on the flip side, I think the Celtics are "growing up" against Chicago and learning to live without Garnett . . . okay, okay, back to hockey and GAME 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, but I came to the conclusion months ago, that this is LeBron and the Cavs year..........with or without KG. :)

Bill, IF the Caps win game 7, would you feel more comfortable if the Bruins were to face Carolina or Pittsburgh?

I think that's a toss-up.

New Jersey (and Brodeur) is the one team I want the Bruins to avoid in the East. Of course, that matchup can't possibly happen until the conference finals.

If only there was a Caps fan on here...
I consider myself a fan. I have lived in the DC area 22 of the past 30-years I try to follow to Caps as much as posssible, but I am certainly not fanatical about them like I am about the Red Wings!

Anyway, another really good game by the Cap. I hope they have a good game because I had them playing in the Eastern Conference Finals.

any comments on my prediction for Game 7?

Yep:

I think the Rangers might be running out of gas.

If the Rangers lost a few close games, I'd still feel good about their chances.

Henrik has surprisingly had two bad games (Everytime I think of King Henrik, I think of you-know-who), and I think teams that are up 3-1 and get blown out twice don't fare well in game 7.

any comments on my prediction for Game 7?

I like it! :)

I truly believe ANY Game 7 in the NHL Playoffs can go either way.

In the NBA, the edge goes to home team BIG time in a game 7........not so much in hockey.

I predicted the Caps would come back and win this series when they were down 3-1, BUT I certainly wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers won it.

NBA Finals
